Abstract

MeReO3 forms a violet adduct with oxine (8-quinolinol or 8-hydroxyquinoline). MeReO3(oxine) shows a long-wavelength absorption at lambda(max) = 540 nm which is assigned to a. CH3- --> oxine (ligand-ligand charge transfer) transition. LLCT excitation leads to the formation of methane and ReO3(oxinate) as stable photoproducts with phi = 0.0015 at lambda(irr) = 546 nm in CH3CN. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
