Abstract

We analyze the hadronic spectra of 200 A GeV S+S collisions with a thermal model of particle emission including resonance decays and collective flow. We find that the shape of the transverse mass spectra is related to the temperature as well as the transverse flow, making it impossible to decide the ambiguity on purely phenomenological grounds. By complementing the model with a global hydrodynamic expansion and a dynamical freeze-out criterium we find that almost inevitably a sizeable transverse flow is generated, which is in full agreement with the data.
