Abstract

The shape of the near fields and the spectral positions of the reflections of Bragg grating have been used to compare finite element calculations and experimental results on InGaAsP/InP waveguides, which support up to three guided modes. The good agreement between theory and experiment proves the predictive power of rigorous calculation methods such as the finite element method.
