Abstract

Since 2010 forensic psychiatric hospitals in Bavaria collect outcome data on rehabilitation, coordinated by an institute for quality management (IFQM). By asking questions and requesting specific analyses individual hospitals can gather suitable information to shape their clinical concepts. Feedback loops enable all those involved in the course of treatment to follow-up the development of patients after discharge from hospital. Many forensic psychiatric hospitals have successfully implemented the data collection into clinical routine. The first data set of 2012 shows good outcomes in the majority of cases for the first year after discharge. Particular attention should be paid on transfers from inpatient to outpatient settings.
