We report of a 73 years old musician under therapy with adrenergic beta-antagonists, seen by an emergency physician because of neurological deterioration due to a prevalent septic shock. The preclinical diagnosis could not been made with the classical combination of hypotension and tachycardia. However, adrenergic beta-antagonists probably had a favourable effect on the patient's survival in the medium term.
