Modern imaging methods seem to rival electroneurography, and in some instances seem to displace it. This could be harmful to patients because both methods complement each other quite well. Electroneurography is especially helpful in the detection and localization of nerve lesions, traumata, or demyelination and determination of the type and the time course of a nerve lesion, in objectifying lesions, and in the assessment of neuromuscular transmission.
