Abstract

Vascular anomalies are very rare, but can occur in children and adults in almost every region of the body. Due to the complexity of this disease, the path to adefinitive diagnosis is often difficult. It requires interdisciplinary teamwork with close exchange of information between the individual treatment partners to reach the correct diagnosis and then to start the best therapy. This article provides an overview of the main types of vascular malformations from aclinical, imaging, and histological point of view, following the current classification of the International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies (ISSVA).
