Abstract

Introduction: Psychotropic drug therapy of personality disorder is only little evidence based. This study characterises the psychotropic therapy of personality disorders in German psychiatric hospitals. Methods: Twice-a-year data of the complete drug therapy, age, sation. Results: 7,3% of the patients suffer from personality disorder as the main psychiatric diagnosis. The majority (51,9%) is of the borderline subtype and 68,7% of the drug prescriptions are related to this. Conclusion: Especially the borderline subtype goes along with a high rate of psychotropic polypharmacy. The most noticeable change is the increase of both escitalopram and quetiapine prescriptions. All in all drug therapy of personality disorders in clinical practise is not consequently following evidence base.ex and diagnosis of all inpatients in the participating hospitals is anonymously collected in a database for statistical evalu
