Abstract

Beside the psychopharmacological therapy psychotherapy also represents an important element in the treatment of bipolar patients. Within psychotherapy psychoeducation has a central importance because of its different components like acquiring models of illness, description of possible courses of illness or the recognition of early warning signs. They all play an important role in the further course of bipolar disorder. The existing psychoeducation programs are often difficult to provide outside of university structures - especially in an ambulant setting - because of their big number of modules. The short psychoeducation for bipolar patients (PEB) (3) tries to fill this gap in the psychoeducation treatment of bipolar disorder. It could be shown that PEB can be realized in the clinical practice very well.
