Abstract

Physical therapy plays a decisive role in the treatment of neuroorthopoedic disease patterns. Team work between physician, physiotherapist and nurse is the base for the success of the therapy and requires a mutual communication basis. The following manuscript offers an overview about the general ideas and treatment concepts of common neuroorthopoedic and neurologic physical therapy. Although a majority of these concepts have been certified by professional physical therapy associations, evidence based research projects are still rare in neuroorthopaedics. Future research cooperations between physicians and physiotherapists should focus on these issues.
