The article deals with aspects of comparative cultural time research, represented by the example of Chinese exchange student Rong Liu, who commented comprehensively on the German way how to deal with matters of time. For example she doesn't understand, why Germans esteem punctuality so highly, when it comes to dinner invitations, despite the fact that they, have so much time". Although she didn't observed this in an everyday situation, but in an event, which was staged especially for the guest from China with a generous budget of time to provide her with the most pleasant memoiries. Her impression of the Germans, very slow" way of living and her opinion that there's plenty of time and space for everyone" can be interpreted as a contrasting idea to the Chinese time culture and a corresponding change of values within the younger generations of Chinese society. On the one hand Rong Liu's observations of time point to an ongoing approximation between the cultures, on the other hand her estimations elucidate how strongly the perception of foreign time cultures is still influenced by one's own time culture. Thus the analysis of divergent time cultures opens up new perspectives with the benefit of a more profound understanding of complex cultural processes.
