Abstract

The structure of the complex [Cu(Bcegly)(H2O)]HgCl3 (.) H2O (1) was studied by X-ray diffraction. The crystals of I are triclinic (a = 7.4751(8) angstrom, b = 8.3614(9) angstrom, c = 14.482(1) angstrom, a = 87.33(1)degrees, beta = 79.70(1)degrees, gamma = 73.37(1)degrees, Z = 2, space group P (1) over bar). The copper atom occurs in a tetragonal-pyramidal coordination with a basal plane occupied by the water molecule, nitrogen atom, and oxygen atoms of the acetate and propionamide groups of the N,N-bis(2-carbamoylethyl)aminoacetate ion. The oxygen atom of the second propionamide group is located on the pyramid axis. The anionic moiety of the crystal is represented by trichloromercurate groups combined to form infinite chains.
