Abstract

We have shown that conductivity optima of battery electrolytes can be determined with the help of conductivity measurements guided by a program based on a simplex algorithm. The method was successfully checked by us with data from literature. In addition, a series of conductivity measurements at -25 degrees C for lithium bis[1,2-oxalato(2-)-O,O']borate (LiBOB) in various solvent blends was performed, where suggestions from this program for the composition of solvent and salt concentration were applied. Data for conductivity measurements at 25 and at -25 degrees C for several blends of LiBOB in ethylene carbonate (EC/propylene carbonate (PC/dimethyl carbonate (DMC) in EC/PC/DMC/ethyl methyl carbonate (EMC), EC/PC/DMC/ethyl acetate (EA), and EC/PC/DMC/EMC/EA are given.
