Abstract

The compounds TI(hfac), Pb(hfaC)(2) and Bi(hfac)(3) with hfac = hexafluoroacetylacetonate show a green phosphorescence (lambda(max) approximate to 500 nm) under ambient conditions. This emission which is facilitated by the heavy atom effect of the metals originates from the lowest-energy hfac intraligand triplet. (C) 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
