Abstract

The complex Fe-II (et(2)dtc)(2)(CO)(2) with et(2)dtc(-) (diethyldithiocarbamate) in CHCl3 undergoes a photooxidation to Fe-III (et(2)dtc)(2)Cl with a quantum yield of phi = 0.0015 at lambda(irr) = 366nm. It is suggested that this photoreaction originates from a (Fe-II --> pi* (et(2)dtc(-))) metal-to-ligand charge transfer or ligand-field excited state. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science B.V.
