Abstract

The complex Ce-III(pyz-COO)(3), with pyz-COO = pyrazine-2-carboxylate, is characterized by a long-wavelength absorption at lambda(max) = 388 mn which is assigned to a (Ce-III --> pyz-COO-) metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) transition. The blue-green luminescence of the complex at lambda(max) = 470 nm is assumed to originate from this MLCT state. (C)(C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
