Abstract

Pt(naph-en)Cl-2 with naph-en N-(1-naphthyl)ethylenediamine was synthesized and spectroscopically characterized. The complex shows a fluorescence at lambda(max) = 405 nm, which originates from the appended naphthyl substituent present as an electronically isolated chromophore.
