Abstract

The photolysis of Hg-2(2+) in tetrahydrofuran induced by metal-metal sigmasigma* excitation leads to the generation of Hg-0 and Hg2+. The quantum yield of this photodisproportionation is phi = 0.03 at lambda(irr) = 254 nm. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
