Irradiation of [Sb-V(tpp)(OH)(2)](+) (tpp = dianion of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin) at 298 K in argon saturated dichloromethane under steady state conditions results in the formation of the highly oxidising pi-radical cation [Sb-V(tpp)(OH)(2)](2+) with spectral characteristics corresponding to a (2)A(2u) electronic ground state.
