Abstract

Gain guiding of the Stokes light in stimulated Raman scattering is calculated for a diffraction-free first-order J(1) Bessel pump beam, which has a phase singularity and zero field amplitude in its center. Experiments performed in hydrogen gas with a quasi-diffraction-free J(1) Bessel pump beam generated by a diffractive axicon show two spatial modes of first-order Stokes emission which have different azimuthal intensity distributions and angular spectra, in good quantitative agreement with the theoretical predictions.
