Abstract

We have developed a cerium-photocatalyzed aerobic oxidation of primary and secondary benzylic alcohols to aldehydes and ketones using inexpensive CeCl3 center dot 7H(2)O as photocatalyst and air oxygen as the terminal oxidant.
