Abstract

The absorption coefficient and refractive index spectra of four para-phenylenevinylene and two para-phenylene-ethynylene luminescent polymers in the wavelength region from 330 to 670 nm are determined. The reflectance and transmittance of cast films on fused silica are measured to determine their optical constants and the thickness. The absorption spectra of the neat thin films are compared with the absorption cross-section spectra of the polymers dissolved in tetrahydrofuran. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
