Abstract

Trimeric Pd(II) acetate shows a photoluminescence in solution at lambda(max) = 475 and 595 nm. It is suggested that this emission originates from a d sigma* --> p sigma excited state which involves the metal-metal interaction in the triangular (Pd-II)(3) moiety. The luminescence of Pd,(acetate), is assigned to a phosphorescence (A,,, = 595 nm) as well as a fluorescence (lambda(max) = 475 nm). (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights resented.
