Abstract

We have solved the paraxial wave equation for stimulated scattering with a diffraction-free pump beam and obtained gain-guided Stokes modes as solutions. The existence of these modes has been demonstrated experimentally using stimulated Raman scattering in H-2 gas with a quasi-diffraction-free Bessel pump beam. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
