Abstract

(Bi,Pb)-2223 wires were fabricated by electrophoretic co-deposition of Bi1.8Pb0.4Sr2Ca2.1Cu3Ox, CaO and PbO powders on thin silver fibres. A non-stoichiometric mixture was used during deposition to obtain an optimum amount of 2223 phase after sintering. The transition temperature of the wires was 110 K and the critical current density, derived from magnetization data, was about 10(5) A cm(-2) at 10 K.
