Abstract

Conductivity measurements on aqueous solutions of sodium hydrogen tartrate and potassium hydrogen tartrate were performed in the temperature range 5-35 degrees C. By including the dissociation equilibria, the experimental conductivities of the acidic salts can be well described using equivalent limiting conductivities of the bitartrate anion lambda(infinity)(HTar(-)) and the tartrate anion lambda(infinity) (1/2 Tar(2-)) when applying the Quint and Viallard equations for unsymmetrical electrolytes.
