Abstract

The paper describes the adsorption of H+/OH- ions and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate, an anionic surfactant on hematite mineral. The surfactant adsorbs strongly on hematite surface by virtue of electrostatic and chemical interactions. There is shift in pH when sulfonate ions get adsorbed on the surface. Effect of pH on adsorption of H+/OH- and sulfonate ions is mentioned. The paper reports that these adsorptions are closely correlated with each other.
