This study attempts io explain what effects stress has on persons affected with atopic dermatitis, the related itching and the type of scrachting caused by stress. A test group of 30 persons was selected, of which 15 were diagnosed with atopic dermatits and 15 were dermatitis free, to undergo a two-parted clinical test. The first part was inducing stress and the second inducing relaxation. The test subjects' blood pressure was measured three different times throughout both parts of the trials to assure that the stress induction caused physiological changes. The scratching was video recorded. Test subjects as well as dermatitis free subjects estimate the experimental situations different and significant changes in blood pressure can be stated. Subject-specific differences become evident in the frequency of scratching during stress induction.
