The draft of the monograph Dithranol as it is scheduled for the European Pharmacopoeia needs some comments and corrections. The HPLC chromatogram for the analysis of dithranol and its degradation products exhibits incomplete separation of dithranol and danthron, and a second system is required for the determination of related substances. A newly developed HPLC system is described to quantitate dithranol, its degradation products and related substances simultaneously.
