Abstract

Several approaches have been applied to establish correlations between crystal structure analysis, small-angle scattering, sedimentation/diffusion, and viscosity data. Agreement has been reached between the various solution data, and also with results from crystallography if hydrational contributions are considered. As illustrative examples, the structural properties of the enzyme citrate synthase and of various other proteins and several ligand-induced shape changes are discussed.
