We critically discuss the recent analysis of strangeness production in nuclear collisions at 200A GeV/c performed by Topor Pop et at. We point out various problems in connection with the interpretation of the data and the numerical model results. We also argue that the term ''strangeness enhancement'' is used in a misleading way.
