Apparatus for the investigation of liquids by high pressure pulse NMR will be described. Examples of the application of this technique to simple and more complex liquids will be given. The compounds studied range from simple hydrocarbons and fluorocarbons to hydrogen bonded liquids like the lower alcohols, water and hydrogen fluoride to series of the larger hydrocarbons and silicones. The models for the description of the density dependence of rotational and translational molecular mobility will be discussed critically. Recent extensions of these studies that include the study of self diffusion in binary mixtures will be presented.
