Abstract

Experimental results on the optical conductivity of thin films of high-T-c superconductors show additional absorption at low FIR frequencies. We show by explicit calculations that this absorption can be explained by a model of random Josephson barriers. In this model the absorption is caused by the strong fields inside the barriers set up by the accumulated charges at the junction boundaries.
