The new chiral ligands (4R,5 R)-2,2-dimethyl-a,a,a',a'-tetra(p-N,N-dimethylamino- phenyl)-1,3-dioxolane-4,5-dimethanol and [(4R,5R)-2,2-dimethyl-a,a,a',a'-tetra(p-triphenylphosphoniumphenyl)-1,3-dioxolane-4,5-dimethanol]X(4) (X = I, BPh(4)) have been synthesized and characterized. Their catalytic efficiency has been tested in the reaction of benzaldehyde and diethylzinc in the presence of Ti((OPr)-Pr-i)(4). Enantioselectivities up to S/R = 98.7 : 1.3 have been observed.
