It is shown that single crystals of Tl2Ba2CaCu2O8 and Tl2Ba2Ca2Cu3O10 which contain minor admixtures of other phases of the TBCCO family exhibit anomalous extrema or shoulders in magnetization curves determined by torque magnetometry. Impurity phases were detected by X-ray analysis as well as AC-susceptibility. Correspondence between steps in susceptibility transition curves and extrema or shoulders in the magnetization curves is demonstrated.
