Abstract

The synthesis, structure, cyclovoltammetric and spectroelectrochemical data of 1,4,5,8-tetraoxo-1,4,5,8-tetrahydrothianthrene (2a) are presented. A relation between the positive partial charge at the sulfur atom and the dihedral angle at the S - S axis is discussed on the basis of semiempirical MO calculations.
