Abstract

The cycling efficiency of lithium in solutions of LiClO4 and LiI in 2-methyltetrahydrofuran was investigated by galvanostatic experiments and cyclic voltammetry. Traces of water lower the cycling efficiency of LiClO4 solutions, but produce an increase of the cycling efficiency of LiI solutions, diminishing at water content above 500 ppm. Addition of 2-methylfuran shows no effect. An increase of the lithium cycling efficiency of LiClO4/2-methyltetrahydrofuran was observed after addition of small amounts of LiAsF6.
