Abstract

The cell walls of three European, virus-sensitive symbiotic Chlorella strains were found to contain 23-29% neutral sugars, 15-20% uronic acids, 6-10% protein and 7-17% glucosamine. This composition is characteristic for glucosamine-containing cell walls of non-symbiotic Chlorella spp. belonging to C. vulgaris, C. sorokiniana, and C. kessleri.
