Abstract

The implications of a large positive pionic chemical potential for the production rate of lepton pairs in relativistic heavy ion collisions are studied. In particular, mu+mu- pairs in the low invariant mass region, 2m(pi) less-than-or-equal-to M(mu+mu-) less-than-or-equal-to 600 MeV, tum out to be strongly enhanced.
