In the last campaign, the Regensburg sugar factory installed an HMP high-pressure multilayer filter press, based on the hyperpressure principle, to handle wet beet pulp. The batch machine yielded product with up to 52% dry substance. With improved filter cloth and some changes, the press is expected in the next campaign to achieve its design specifications of 50% dry substance on a volume of 3,300 tonnes of beets per day.
