Abstract

The syntheses of endoperoxides of naphthalene derivatives with propionic acid and ethanesulfonic acid side chains are described. The partition coefficients and half-lives for the thermal decomposition in phosphate buffer of all compounds have been determined. Because of their high stability in phosphate buffer at 37-degrees-C, 3,3'-(4-Methyl-1,3-naphthylene)dipropionic acid and its corresponding methyl ester may be used as chemical traps for the detection of O-1(2) in biological systems.
