Abstract

It is shown that there is a principal possibility for an inhomogeneous superconducting order in clean two-band superconductors and in the absence of a magnetic field (in future called the ILOFF phase). The Ginzburg-Landau functional is set up near the tricritical Lifshitz point and the critical field H(C2)(T) is studied in various dimensions. The possibility for the so-called pi-Josephson contact is investigated as well as the effect of the paramagnetic field on the ILOFF phase.
