In this paper we establish some results concerning the spectral properties of an elliptic boundary value problem containing the floating singularity (u - lambda)-1. Our results are arrived at through a study of the spectral properties of an associated lambda-linear problem, and in this study we use some basic facts from the theories of holomorphic operator-valued functions and definitizable operators in Krein space.
