Abstract

The carpe registry has been set up to investigate the long term management of patients affected by chronic hand eczema (CHE). Patients are assessed by dermatological and patient questionnaire Socio-demographic and clinical characteristcs, therapies and patient-reported outcomes are collected at regular intervals. Detailed analyses are currently available from 1,163 patients with CHE (average age: 47.0 years; average disease duration: 7.6 years). 35.3% reported systemic treatment prior to inclusion in the register. Younger age, more severe CHE and moderate or strong quality of life impairment were significantly associated with itching in CHE. Data from a subsample allowed to validate the German version of the Occupational Contact Dermatitis Disease Severity Index (ODDI). Future analyses will investigative the effectiveness and safety of different therapies, in particular systemic and UV therapies.
