In recent years a connection of peripheral nerve hourglass-deformities and torsisonal injuries and neuralgic amyotrophy (NA) has been identified. Furthermore, it has been noted that the incidence of NA is extremely underestimated. Therefore, knowledge about NA and the above mentioned peripheral nerve abnormalities is of high relevance for daily clinical neurological practice. The article shall serve as a practical update on this topic.
