Abstract

On the basis of a complete case documentation of all measures of stationary educational support given by the Munich youth welfare department during the period from 1996 to 1998, the authors undertook a typological analysis of the pedagogical aims agreed upon with the young people, on the one hand, and of the aims of the support plan agreed upon with the parents, on the other. By means of a latent class analysis, 12 "typical" patterns of target constellations regarding young people could be shown which emerged as characteristic constellations from a comprehensive list of more than 54 possible individual aims. As regards the aims agreed upon with the parents, 5 target types were identified from a list of 28 individual aims. The target classes follow a pattern of increasing intensity correlating with decreasing prevalence, with a few special constellations. They prove to be highly dependent on age and gender, furthermore, there are clear links between the targets set with the children and adolescents, on the one hand, and those set with the parents, on the other. The target patterns can be considered social representations of an allocation to stationary help, which may give an insight into the diagnostic demands on support plans within the framework of an accommodation in stationary educational aid to be deduced from these patterns.
