In view of the ongoing controversies about sex education in schools and other educational institutions, this article asks for a conception of sexual education that neither follows so-called emancipatory sexual education, nor goes along with right-wing conser-vative positions. The article asks from a subject-theoretical perspective for a conception of sex education that understands the pedagogical relationship as a relation of desire. The sexual of sex education is thereby related to subject formation in the sense of en-abling and developing desire. The article pleads for a stronger inclusion of sex education in academic teacher education, taking into account psychoanalytical considerations of the pedagogical relationship
